Finally Getting Fit

It’s time to put wheat free to the test.

Tonight is the residents graduation.

We get to see 4 fabulous doctors graduate from their pediatric residency program and move on to fellowships and group practices.

Very exciting.  These are physicians that I have worked with for the past 3 years.  Just a few weeks after they leave us they will be taking their Pediatric Boards to become full board certified pediatricians.  And who knows… they could end up in your town!

The graduation this year is being at a local country club restaurant. I have no idea what the menu will be I would be surprised if it’s not breaded bread deep-fried and garnished with bread.  This is the South after all.

I’m sure there will be a giant basket of dinner rolls.  Probably a beef and a chicken dish.  We do have 4 vegetarian physicians so I certainly hope they have coordinated with the caterer so that they have something to eat. There may be hope for me after all.  Maybe 2 or 3 veggie side items. One of those is guaranteed to be potatoes.  And probably cake for desert.

I have some Larabars in my bag so I’ll make sure I take one of those just in case.  It’s not the best (dates are very high in sugar and have a very high glycemic load) but it’s the best I can do for now.

Tomorrow we have an appreciation luncheon for all our physicians, supervising physicians and residents alike. They have catered Olive Garden.  Lasagna,  pasta alfredo, bread sticks, salad.  Want to guess what I’ll be eating?   NOT THAT!!!

I’ll make sure I bring something from home so I can sit and enjoy the company during the lunch time festivities.

Tip of the day:  The Krystal Bacon Low-carb scrambler may meet your gluten free, wheat free needs but at nearly 500 calories it is not your friend.  Stay away. Stay far far away.
