Finally Getting Fit

Dogwood Festival Part 2:

Posted on: April 11, 2011

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I should just let this speak for the day.

Look at the big Zero under Exercise. That just makes me sick.

The day started with some couch-cushion warm-ups and progressed to washing machine fill-ups followed by some grocery store aisle laps.

The my bestie called and said… “let’s go be dessert tasting judges at the festival. It’s only $3.”  I had to go back any way to get the wine glasses I orders so of course I said yes. If I had been smart I would have parked at her house and WALKED down to the street festival with her. But I didn’t even think about that option and parked just one street over and met her there!

Anyone can enter the dessert contest. They had categories for 10 and under, 11-17, adult amateur, and adult professional.  I think the absolute best dessert there was a banana pudding in the 10 and under category followed closely by a red velvet cake in the adult amateur division. There must have been 30-40 desserts for tasting and they were all portioned out in little tiny nut cups.
After the judging I walked the streets again and bought a tiny bag of pecan brittle, a tiny rum cake, a t-shirt for my son, and a copper lizard for my deck.  The brittle and the rum cake didn’t last through the evening.  I tried to counter some of the sugar with sloppy joes that the Coach made but I was comatose by 8:30. How sad.

Exercise: Zilch.

But I did get in 9 consecutive days this month and that’s a lot more than I’ve done in the past. I’ll walk again at lunch time today and it’ll be a new day to make new (better) choices than I made yesterday.
