Finally Getting Fit

I know my posts are few and far between. I’m sorry. I’m not a very good blogger.

I haven’t quit exercising or running.  I ran a 5K in January and I’ve run maybe two or three times since then. Today I ran the Sweetheart Run for Sight. It was fun. I finished in 45:41.

Not my best time but I’m happy with it.

I’ve mentioned before on here that I have hyperthyroidism.  It causes weight loss, tremors, heart palpitations, shortness of breath… the list goes on. I had radiation ablation in January. 5 days in semi-quarantine while the radiation targets the thyroid cells. Not a fun time for me. It wasn’t horrible. Just not fun.

The thing is that the thyroid doesn’t die right away. It takes time for the thyroid cells to die and for the thyroid to return to normal function before it dies out into hypothyroidism. So now I am not on my thyroid meds and my thyroid is still hyperactive.  Throw in those fun side effects, shortness of breath and heart palpitations, with trying to run and you’ll see why I’m happy with my 45 minute run!

In other new I have found a fun new group on Facebook. It’s called Poke 4 Fitness. You decide what you’re going to do such as 5 push-ups, laps around the track, etc for every poke you get.

It works best if your profile is semi-public so that anyone can poke you. So far I’ve had to do 55 minutes on the elliptical, 40 minutes of hooping, and I have to take 9 laps around my neighborhood tomorrow.  That’s 8 miles. That will be the most I have ever run/walked before.
