Finally Getting Fit

Pumped up.

Posted on: April 11, 2010

I came home from the surgery center with a “pain” pump attached. It was full of morphine so technically it was an anti-pain pump. 🙂 It was good to have. I could press the dose button every 10 minutes with a max dose of 5 times per hour.  I used only 20 doses before it was disconnected.

The home care nurse, Lisa, came out about 2:30 to disconnect me. It was interesting. I’ve never had need of a home care nurse before. She asked all the usual questions. How was I feeling, did I have any pain, rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 10. I have a feeling my pain will be worse when I start therapy than it is now.  She gave me one last dose before she disconnected me. Then she slipped out the IV catheter and popped on a band-aid.  She left me with 30 pain tablets so I’m not without something.

Now that the pump is gone it’s time for a bath. Hooray!!!

24 hours to go and i’ll be able to take the bandages off and shower.
